The Hagerstown Area YMCA Lacrosse Association (HAYLA) is a spring rec lacrosse league. HAYLA offers boys and girls teams in grades K-8 as well as developmental 'scooper' teams for younger kids. All HAYLA teams are made up of players and coaches from Washington County and the surrounding areas and there are no pre-requirements to particiapte. For the purposes of scheduling games, HAYLA participates in the Western Maryland Youth Lacrosse Conference (WMYLC). WMYLC is made up of other rec programs from surrounding counties and HAYLA teams have both home games in Hagerstown as well as away games througout Washington and Frederick counties.
The HAYLA season consists of 8-10 games typically starting the beginning of April and the season concludes around the beginning of June with an end of season weekend tournamanet played at Urbana High School. Practices typically begin in early March with 2-3 week day practices. Most games are scheduled on either Saturday or Sunday.
The mission of HAYLA is to deliver the game of lacrosse in a fun, instructive and competitive fashion. The goal of all coaches is to teach young players the fundamentals of the game while encouraging their development as players and teammates. Weather you have been playing for years or new to the sport, HAYLA can be right for you.
